The Art of Showing Up: Vol 2

Last week I posted a blog on the importance of showing up (The Art of Showing up: Vol 1). My point was, even when you are feeling tired, unmotivated, or in pain you NEED to show up anyway. A couple days ago (August 2, 2026) I was suffering from a back injury that occurred several days before. Despite the pain I was experiencing I showed up to the gym anyway KNOWING that my effort was not going to be 110% and that is ok. The important thing is I showed up to the gym on a "bad" day which helps to reinforce and build good habits. Showing up on the days when your tired, in pain, or you just don't want to are the most important days to show up. With this being said, everything needs to be in moderation. Of course, if you have a broken leg right now don't go to the gym, that would simply be silly. What you need to do though, is take a few moments to reflect and REALLY reflect on how you're feeling right now. Ask yourself "can I go to the gym today" (or whatever task you're facing). I believe that if you are truly honest with yourself you CAN perform that task, you either just don't want to, your tired, unmotivated, or slightly in pain. What Im saying is, despite these things you need to get up and go do it anyway. The Art of Showing Up is doing the thing that needs to get done when you don't want to do it. I hope this example from my own life helps.
